On 28th September, Sir Robert McAlpine has started a £350m reconstruction on the Morello 2 development for Menta Regeneration Ltd in Croydon, in the south London.

The regeneration scheme comprises 456 homes across three buildings, and has already provided 300 residential units.

The 25-storey Morello Estate towers will provide 338 apartments and will be operated by Mitsubishi Estate London. Another building, a 9-storey Cherry Orchard Gardens, will include 118 homes for shared ownership and social rent, and be owned by the Clarion Housing Association.

In addition to the excellent housing, the development also proposes 20,000 square feet of retail and commercial floor space, new public realm and a new link bridge to East Croydon train station.

Managing Director for Sir Robert McAlpine UK South, Ian Cheung, said, “We are delighted to have signed this contract and to have progressed to the start of construction, despite the challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic over the last six months.

“This is testament to the strength of the trusted relationship we have built with Menta Regeneration Ltd, the funding partners, and Gleeds, during the preconstruction phase. We look forward to delivering this exciting regeneration scheme which will connect to East Croydon train station and provide quality residential units for the end users.”

Completion by 2023.
