Ghelamco developments
The company was founded in 1985 by Paul Gheysens, who remains the managing director and majority shareholder today. Ghelamco initially operated as a general contractor for the construction of industrial facilities. Later, the business expanded to include office and residential construction and property development roles. In the early 1990s, Ghelamco expanded its operations to Poland, where it is now one of the largest real estate developers. Since 2005, Ghelamco has also been active in the logistics real estate market with subsidiaries in Russia and Ukraine.
In Belgium, Ghelamco has developed several residential complexes comprising single-family and multi-family buildings as well as commercial units in Brussels, De Panne, Knokke-Heist, and Leuven. Projects in Oostduinkerke, Ghent, and Wavre are currently in the planning or construction stages. In 2013, the naming rights to the stadium in Ghent were acquired by the Ghelamco Group, and the sports facility has since been called Ghelamco Arena.
Since 1991, Ghelamco has primarily focused on developing high-quality office properties through its Polish property development company, Ghelamco Invest, and the construction company, Ghelamco Polska. Preferred locations include the Warsaw districts of Mokotów, the city center, and Wola. Notable projects include the Warsaw Spire, the Warsaw Unit, and The Warsaw Hub, which are currently under construction. The Warsaw Senator office building was constructed in compliance with monument protection regulations. Ghelamco also invests in office properties in Katowice and Wroclaw.
