Construction will start in the fall of 2025
The Selby Centre Selby Village is a large residential redevelopment in Tottenham, London, co-developed and funded by Haringey Council and The Selby Trust. The scheme also involves the creation of 202 new council homes, all of which will be let at social rent levels to local people. A large proportion — 79 homes (39 percent) — are family homes, with three or four bedrooms.
The scheme contains the existing site of the Selby Centre and the Bull Lane sports fields. This part of Tottenham will be completely reshaped to provide new homes, services, and green open spaces. The new community is designed to be part of a larger sustainable development initiative for the borough.
At the core of the project is the development of an active, diverse, and robust community. A focus will be on the new Selby Centre, a 4,795 sqm four-storey building that will house office space, a cafe, a nursery, and spaces for education and cultural activities, open for the use of residents.
Future residents will enjoy a wide range of recreational and community facilities, including football pitches, cricket and padel courts, a multi-use games area (MUGA), an outdoor gym, children’s play areas, community gardens, and designated wildlife zones. These spaces are designed to promote healthy lifestyles and foster social interaction.
The development prioritises environmental sustainability. It incorporates surface water management systems, improved pedestrian and cycle routes, extensive landscaping, and low-carbon technologies such as heat pumps. Architectural solutions focus on energy efficiency and the creation of comfortable, high-quality homes and public spaces.
Construction of Selby Urban Village is expected to be completed between 2027 and 2028, with phased handovers starting from the delivery of social housing. This project represents one of the most significant sustainable urban transformation schemes in North London and aims to serve as a model for future redevelopment across the city.
