Homes England, the governmental agency overseeing housing and regeneration, has approved a £125 million loan to Berkeley Group for infrastructure works across three key sites. This funding, supplemented by support from the GLA, aims to accelerate the progress of these significant projects.
The three sites earmarked for development are Twelvetrees Park in Newham, Bermondsey Place in Southwark, and Beckton Riverside, also located in Newham. These projects, characterized by their complexity and economic challenges, require substantial upfront investment to advance.
Of particular note, Bermondsey Place is set to transform a 5.4-acre former light industrial site into a vibrant community hub. With nearly 1,400 homes planned, 40% of which will be affordable, the development will also feature public parks, playgrounds, commercial spaces, footpaths, and a one-acre civic square. The infusion of funding will consolidate various land parcels, catalyzing progress towards the realization of this ambitious vision.
