A momentous occasion unfolded at the Town Quay development in Barking as an 11-storey building reached its pinnacle, marking the completion of a significant construction phase. Led by Be First in collaboration with Weston Homes, the 'Topping Out' ceremony was attended by esteemed guests including Darren Rodwell, leader of Barking and Dagenham Council, and senior directors from Weston Homes.

The development, boasting a Gross Development Value of £53 million, is set to redefine the landscape of the area, offering a blend of 147 new build apartments and 1,000 square meters of commercial space. Notably, 62 affordable units will be provided on a 'turnkey' basis to the Council, addressing the pressing need for accessible housing options. Of these, 29 apartments will adhere to the London Affordable Rent standard, while 33 will be available for shared ownership.

Situated along the picturesque Town Quay and the River Roding, the development is envisioned as a vibrant community hub, complete with a public plaza overlooking the scenic waterfront. Market sale one and two-bedroom apartments are slated for launch in the summer, promising contemporary living spaces equipped with top-notch amenities such as balconies or terraces, full-fibre broadband, and communal facilities including food and beverage outlets, workshops, and artist's studios.

The successful 'Topping Out' ceremony signifies a significant step forward in the Town Quay development, paving the way for a dynamic and inclusive community space in the heart of Barking.

Construction is underway for Weston Homes' Town Quay development, set to launch in Summer 2024.

Weston Homes is set to unveil its new waterside development, Town Quay in Barking, with construction now in progress and a launch date scheduled for the summer of 2024. Valued at £50 million, this mixed-use project will introduce 147 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, featuring 42% affordable housing and 10,764 sq ft of commercial space.

Situated off Abbey Road on over 60,600 sq ft, Town Quay will consist of three buildings surrounding a public plaza, offering stunning views of the Mill Pond and River Roding. Designed by PRP Architects, the architecture draws inspiration from nearby mill and maritime structures, presenting striking features such as pitched roofs, industrial warehouse-style brick facades, floor-to-ceiling windows, and balconies.

Launching in Summer 2024, Town Quay introduces a boutique development in Barking offering luxurious 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments overlooking the waterfront or Abbey Green. Boasting a modern design and Weston Homes’ comprehensive specification, these residences include integrated appliances, Smart technology, flooring, and superfast broadband, allowing residents to personalize their homes without additional charges.

The apartments are designed to capture natural light with floor-to-ceiling windows, each complemented by a private terrace or balcony. Additionally, a new public plaza along the waterfront will provide a communal space for residents to socialize and enjoy the surroundings.
