Bishopsgate Goodsyard Redevelopment Overview

Ballymore and Hammerson are collaborating on the redevelopment of Bishopsgate Goodsyard, also known as The Goodsyard. This project aims to revitalize the area, situated between Shoreditch, Banglatown, Spitalfields, and the City, by transforming it into a vibrant mixed-use development.

Location and Accessibility

The Goodsyard site spans the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and the London Borough of Hackney. It benefits from excellent public transport links, with Shoreditch High Street Station within the site and Liverpool Street Station a short walk away. Additionally, the site is close to local landmarks such as Brick Lane, the Truman Brewery, Spitalfields Market, and Columbia Road Flower Market.

Planning Permission and Masterplan

In March 2022, planning permission was granted by the Mayor of London for the comprehensive redevelopment of The Goodsyard. The masterplan divides the site into 11 plots, which will be developed in phases over the next decade.

Key Features of the Redevelopment

• Up to 500 new homes, with a focus on providing 50% affordable housing, including family homes.
• 4 million sq ft of office space, with a significant portion dedicated to affordable workspace for businesses.
• A new 2.6-acre public park to enhance green space within the development.
• New restaurants, retail outlets, and leisure facilities to cater to residents and visitors.
• Two cultural spaces, including a destination building on Brick Lane and an exhibition space within the historic Braithwaite Arches.
• Creation of 11,000 new jobs during the construction phase and after completion.
• Support for 150 apprenticeships to promote skills development within the local community.
• A financial contribution of nearly £18 million towards local infrastructure and services to benefit the surrounding area.
