Construction has begun at the former Citroën garage site in Brentford, reports main contractor Hill.
The development by L&Q will deliver 441 new homes across 5 buildings which include a mix of Shared Ownership and Affordable Rented homes.
Housing association L&Q and housebuilder The Hill Group have begun work on a new project to redevelop the former Citroen garage site in Brentford, West London.
Situated in the heart of the Brentford regeneration area and next to the new Brentford FC and London Irish stadium, the development is set to deliver 441 new homes, a residents gym and a new nursery.
50% of the new homes will be affordable and include a mix of Shared Ownership and Affordable Rented homes.
The plans comprise five buildings of heights up to 18 storeys, southerly views of the Thames and Kew Gardens, and will include a public square, alongside investment in local infrastructure improvements.
The joint venture partnership will also provide a range of social benefits for the local area during construction, including investment in significant employment, training and community focussed opportunities.
Construction works have started on site, with residents expected to move into the first affordable homes by September 2024. The project is expected to complete by the end of 2026.
Vicky Savage, executive group director of Development and Sales at L&Q, said: “We are delighted to be taking this exciting project forward together with our partners at The Hill Group.
“The redevelopment of this strategic site in Brentford will bring forward a significant number of much-needed affordable homes in a beautiful new neighbourhood.
“By joining forces with Hill, a like-minded partner who shares our vision for the area, we’ve been able to get spades in the ground whilst unlocking investment in jobs and opportunities for local people.”
Regional director for The Hill Group, Cain Peters, commented, “We are excited to be on site and embarking on our first joint venture with L&Q, one of the most highly respected housing associations in the country.
“We are focused on adding social value to Brentford and will be working closely with the local community to provide training and jobs.
“We welcome local residents to make contact if they are interested in pursuing a career in construction.”
DisclaimerWe have created an automatic ranking system for new-build homes in London based on several critical features around the development, like schools, parks, and transport infrastructure.
We have developed this new analytical tool to calculate the scores based on the location data. Note that AutoScore values are not set by us or anyone else – everything happens automatically.
